COUNTY STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS R1

Saturday 26th May 2018
Seascale (SEA), Tee - White
Medal
H'cap Allowance: Full Handicap

a)     County Strokeplay Championship

The Championship will be played annually and will incorporate three segments:-

i)              The Junior 36 Hole  Competition

ii)             The Seniors 36 Hole Championship

iii)             The County Strokeplay Championship over 72 holes.

Format:

The first round will be played on the Saturday of the May Late Bank Holiday Week-end and will consist of 18 holes of medal play, played in three-balls, on the designated course by all participants in all three segments. The second round will be played on the Sunday of the said week-end and will consist of a further 18 holes. The draw for play will be determined by the Committee and notified to Clubs and on the County web-site

At the conclusion of the 36 holes the Junior 36 Hole Competition and the Seniors 36 Hole Championship will be decided, with the winners of these two sections being determined as the lowest aggregate gross scores by participants in these Championships. The first two rounds also qualify for the Green Jacket Competition.

The top 40 and ties in the overall Championship will then be invited to participate in the 36 holes to be played, in two-balls, on the Monday of the said week-end to determine the winner of the overall County Strokeplay Championship. The player recording the lowest gross  score over the 72 holes will be declared the winner of the Championship Bowl to be held for 12 months, and he will move on to represent the County at the England Golf Champion of Champions Tournament alongside the winner of the 36 Hole Championships at ii) above, who will be eligible to play in the Senior Champions of Champions .

The Junior 36 hole Championship will be played in August as those currently taking Exams will be  adversely affected at this time.

(In the event of a tie, there will be a play-off over a number of holes as designated by the Championship Committee. Whenever a player in the play-off returns a score at a hole greater than the lowest score at that hole, he is eliminated from the play-off until a winner is determined.)

Prizes:

The competition is basically a Scratch Competition but there will be nett prizes also

There will be prizes also for the best net scores achieved over the 72 holes.

The overall Prize Pool will be determined by the Championship Committee and this will be displayed in the Clubhouse at the start of the Competition. Card play-offs will be used to determine lower denominations of prizes.

The players with the best 16 gross scores, determined by a card play-off if necessary, will be invited as of right to play in the County Matchplay Competition, without further cost.
