Cumbria Union of Golf Clubs

Cumbria Union Coronavirus Update

To all Affiliated Clubs and Players,

With immediate effect the Cumbria Union of Golf Clubs is suspending all its activities with regard to County Golf Events.  This initially extends from today till 5th May and will be reviewed next in week ending 26th April as to whether, as is entirely likely, it will be extended into the next month or two.

Similar action is being taken by all counties in the Northern Counties Region to help safeguard golfers in the pursuit of their sport.

There will also be no meetings run by the County Union in this period of suspension.

This means that all events planned in this period to be put on by the County will be cancelled forthwith in accordance with Governmental, England Golf's and Northern Counties' advice.

I will be writing to Clubs who had kindly agreed to host events in this period to confirm the cancellation.

It is left entirely to the discretion of all our clubs and courses as to whether you wish to limit or restrict access to your premises and course during this pandemic.

We appreciate that we are entering into a very difficult period for our sport, alongside many others. We can only hope that this virus disappears as rapidly as it has arrived in our midst.

In the meantime we hope that you and your members stay as well and safe as possible.

Kind regards

Tom Stout

County Secretary.
