Rory Thompson new County Champion

Congratulations Rory Thompson & Alfie McDonough

Rory battled through all the conditions to post scores of 72, 70,73 & 68 over a weekend that saw temperatures reach highs of 30 degrees, sweltering muggy air, howling winds, heavy rain and back to sunshine for the final hole. Carlisle's course held up magnificently throughout Thompson's efforts to become County Champion for the first time.

Rory finished 3 shots ahead of 2nd place Archie Davies of Carlisle GC on 286 and 4 shots ahead of Mathew Ward in 3rd place of Brampton GC.

We look forward to supporting Rory in his quest to become the Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa in September. Good luck Rory!!.

Alfie McDonough the 1st Junior to win the Tufty Blair Nett Trophy at Carlisle also won the voucher and accolade of Top finishing Junior. Alfie a member of Workington GC pleasantly surprised everyone in his 1st ever entry into the Men's Strokeplay Event winning both. Very well played Alfie!!!  We look forward to seeing you in many more of the Men's events in the future.
