Inter Club Strokeplay Championship Kendal 10th July 2011
Played at the picturesque Kendal Golf Club on Sunday, Cumbrian clubs vied for the chance to represent the county at the EGU County Club Championship in September at Scarcroft.
Where not only skill but endurance was required, Windermere triumphed with 420 shots, beating Silloth A by 1 shot , with Champions for the last 5 years, Workington in 3rd with 428. The Windermere team was Adam Chapman, Peter Chapman and Andrew Millray.
William Bowe from Workington posted the best individual score after rounds of 65 and 69.
The President of the Cumbria Union, Cliff Heath, himself a member of Windermere expressed his delight at his home club's success. " I am pleased for the team, with its father and son duo in Peter and Adam , and the resurgent Andrew Millray who came through a quite severe test of golf, both from the course and from the Silloth team of county players , John Longcake, Nick Bell and Martin Hand. It was a close run affair!".
