Cumbria Scratch League 

2011 Rules 

    • Matches are to tee off between 5.15pm and 6.15pm.  If you are going to be running late, please liaise with the other team’s captains.
    • Teams consist of six players, and matches are to be played in exact handicap order. All players must have an active handicap. Any player found to be inactive will have their points nullified.
    • Points are awarded as follows for each game; 2 points for a win, 1 for a half and 0 for a loss.
    • Please field a team for the agreed match as per the fixtures. Any amendments must be agreed with both captains and the Scratch League Secretary. If it’s not resolved, then the game must be played as scheduled.
    • The hosting club shall provide at least a one course meal for both teams after the game.
    • Entry fee remains at £50 per team. Cheques are to be made payable to Cumbria Union of Golf Clubs before the leagues commence (2nd May). Each league winner will receive £100. Scratch League Champions will be awarded £400, runners up £250 and both losing semi finalists will receive £150. Cheques will be given instead of the vouchers.
    • There are five leagues, North Premier, North, West, South Premier and South.
    • The winners of North Premier & South Premier Leagues qualify for the finals day. The runners up of both North Premier & South Premier Leagues and the winners of the North and West go to the play offs to qualify go to the finals day. The winners of the match between the North and West also get promoted to the North Premier league.
    • The losing teams in both Premier Leagues are relegated. The North Premier team moves to either the North or West depending on geography. The South Premier Team goes to the South League. The winner’s of the South League are promoted to the South Premier league and do not go to the playoffs or finals day..
    •  Once a player has played four matches for the “A” team, the player will no longer be able to transfer back to playing for the “B” team.  The naming of your elite players is no longer required.
    •  Clubs with two teams in the same league must play their matches as per the fixtures. The first match will be at the beginning of the league.
    • Electronic measuring devices are permitted as long as the do not measure wind direction, speed and slope.
    • Matches rained off must be rescheduled between both captains to agree.
    • A No show will result in a 12 – 0 turnover. Let’s not have this happen!!
    • Please return your results within 48 hours of the match being played via text or email to the Scratch League Secretary. Please then post your match sheets at a later date. Updates will be back to you by the beginning of the following week.
